Italian manufacturer Piaggio (famous for the Vespa scooter amongst Mod’s everywhere) have announced that their UK importer Perodua UK will be selling Piaggio’s single-seater Ape three-wheeler in the UK with prices starting at £3595 + vat.
This quirky little 3 wheeler has a whole range of build options, with engines ranging from 50cc and 218cc petrol units and even a 422cc diesel engine.
Suitable as on on-site run about or for short distance urban deliveries, the APE is available as a van with a load capacity of 2.5m3 or as a pick-up truck and even a tipper truck. Other interesting choices include deciding if you want a steering wheel of a set of handlebars (its not every day you get that choice).
The pizza delivery drivers’ dream, the “APE” (which incidentally means “bee” in Italian) has a turning circle of just 7.4m and can be driven on a provisional licence.
Along with the APE, a fun 4 seater called the “Calessino” will be available, featuring all kinds of swish things such as a folding hood, wooden inserts and “attractive” cream upholstery. Bet you can’t wait!
