The Ford Focus, a mainstay of European roads for nearly 27 years, will cease production this year, marking the end of an era for the popular hatchback.
Ford’s decision to discontinue the Focus, initially announced in 2022, aligns with the company’s ambitious plan to transition to an all-electric vehicle lineup in Europe by 2030. This move follows the discontinuation of the Ford Fiesta in 2023, another beloved model in Ford’s history.
Despite Ford investing heavily in it’s electric future, the demand for its current EV models, including the Mustang Mach-E, Ford Explorer, Capri, and Puma Gen-E, has reportedly been below initial projections. As of now, Ford has not announced plans for a direct electric successor to the Focus in the traditional hatchback segment.
In a statement regarding the Focus, Ford said: “The Focus has been an important part of the Ford family in Europe for over 20 years, and we are deeply grateful for the loyalty and passion our customers have shown for this iconic vehicle.”
The discontinuation of the Focus reflects the broader automotive industry’s shift towards electrification. It remains to be seen how Ford will fill the gap left by the departure of this long-standing and popular model.
“After nearly 30 years on the road, Ford has announced that Focus production will end in November 2025 as the brand shifts towards electric vehicles. Introduced in 1998, the Focus has been a staple on UK roads, renowned for its versatility and performance.
