An Australian couple has attained two Guinness Book of World Records and blown everyone away, by achieving a massive 90.75mg from their Peugeot 308 diesel.
In a 25 day, 9000 mile journey along the Australian coastline, John and Helen Taylor managed to get 1192 miles on just one tank of fuel which is only 60 litres (or 15.8 gallons) and this gave them the first Guinness record.
Record number 2 is that over their 9062 mile journey, they achieved the highest fuel average fuel consumption of 90.75mpg.
They said they didn’t significantly change the way they normally drive their Peugeot and in fact, even loaded it up with suitcases for the trip.
The only significant preparation to the car was the fitting of a set of Michelin lower rolling resistance tyres.
You have to think a couple of things here, the first one being how terrible must it have been to be stuck behind this couple as they limped along and secondly you have to ask yourself, would you want to spend 25 days stuck in a car with your wife! Well as I write, the Taylor’s are still married
