GM owned Chevrolet has announced they going to offer a five year warranty on a couple of its models. Aveo and Cruze, will both get the extended warranty and in addition to that, they also get free servicing for 3 years or 30,000 miles.
Mark Terry, Chevrolets UK Managing Director said that “Chevrolet car were known the world over for their dependability” and it’s in recognition of this, that they are offering this incentive, although it is for a limited time only and whilst I am happy to buy that, you must ask why the confidence isn’t across the board, because the offer does not apply to Matiz, Spark, Lacetti or Captiva.
In 2010, Chevrolet have seen a 41% increase in their retail sales and achieved a record market share for the company and clearly, this offer is in an effort to increase sales on both Aveo and Cruze.
The free servicing offer has to bring memories of the free servicing offered across the board by Daewoo in the 90’s, particularly as that’s what the name of the brand was, before it became Chevrolet in the UK.
We have used some modern Chevrolet cars and I have to say, were pleasantly surprised and we loved the Captiva whilst the Matiz is still a good sub 7 grand hatch.
There is no doubt that this offer will encourage buyers into Aveo and Cruze and of course, with their involvement in the British Touring Car Championship, with the new Cruze (which looks very pretty indeed) they are putting themselves in front of a wide audience, so I definitely see the Chevrolet brand continuing to grow and gain credibility in the UK, which it probably deserves, however, why cant people just say, we simply need to sell some more of these models, so we are going to make you an offer you cant refuse, rather than intimating they can afford to do it because they are so reliable, because you then have to ask yourself if that’s the case, why isn’t the complete range getting the offer?
