Lamborghini announce their new “Sesto Elemento”
Anyone who loves cars will know about the now almost legendary Bugatti Veyron Super Sport which was the most expensive sports car in the world.
Well that’s changed as Italian car maker Lamborghini has just announced their new “Sesto Elemento” which has a ticket price of a massive £1.77 million pounds and can’t be driven on the road (and frankly, that’s just plain stupid).
The 200 mph super car will accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 2.5 seconds, but to achieve that, the car has to do what’s been phrased as “dispense with normal measures when creating a car” which means it does not comply or meet the required standards to allow it to be driven on a public road.
My young son once had a toy Lamborghini and frankly, that’s exactly what this is, but a toy for very wealthy little boys, as it’s only ever going to be consigned to being used on private roads or racetracks.
The Sesto Elemento (which stands for “sixth Element” which is the atomic number for Carbon) is described as a luxurious sports car with a sleek carbon fibre body and chassis made almost entirely of carbon fibre and it houses a 5.2 litre V10 and utilises the latest cutting edge technology and weighs in at less than a tonne (hence the acceleration).
Only 20 of these state of the art cars will be built, in the factory at Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy and you have to ask yourself quite what they mean by state of the art, when it can’t even be driven on the road as surely, that’s a pretty basic requirement for any car, unless of course, it’s a racing car, which this Lambo is not. So if it’s not a road car and it’s not a racing car, what is it? “Answers on a postcard please”
Anyway, not wanting to be a kill joy, but frankly, its obscene when the world is in crisis that anyone can contemplate paying almost £2 Million pounds for a car you cant even go to the shops in! But what’s more obscene than that is that there are going to be loads of rich folk queuing up to buy one and if you had the 2 Million to lay on the table, you probably couldn’t get one anyway.
I wonder if metallic is an option?
