Its Silly Time – Whats Your Favourite Colour Car?
We love surveys and research that give us pointless information and whilst I am sure there is some planner somewhere that will find this particular piece of research very useful, for us, it’s just a bit of fun.
Manheim Auctions who have a number of big sites around the UK and sell absolutely 1000’s of used cars each year polled around 3,000 people to find out what their favourite colour car is. So here goes!
I hope this does not sound too much like a report about strawberry flavoured deserts delivered by Reggie Perrin, but black came out as the preferred colour with some 30% of women and 31% of men saying it was their favourite, although only 12% of women and 14% of men actually drove a black car.
In top of the pops order, Silver came second at 17% although 25% of men and 24% of women drove silver cars. The third choice is a little less conclusive, with Women preferring red cars, whilst the blokes preferred blue.
The poll reached the conclusion that almost 60% of motorists are actually driving cars that they don’t like the colour of!
Despite black being the favourite colour, it seems that our roads are dominated by silver cars, except in the South West, in Yorkshire, Humberside and East Anglia where there were more blue cars on the road than any other colour.
Car colours are a fashion thing of that there is no doubt and white is making a comeback although it only accounts for around 4% of the cars we drive.
Make no mistake, the colour of your car WILL effect its second hand resale value. Some of these strange “launch” metallic colours that manufacturers come up with to put on brand new models, might look ultra-modern in the showrooms, but oh so often, they simply serve to date a car and fall from grace big time. You need to choose the colour your car looks best in, not necessarily your absolute favourite colour and if you can do that, its going to get you bigger bucks back for your car at trade in time, as more people are going to want to buy it……simples!
