Arriving on the roads of the UK in spring 2008, the new Audi A3 Cabriolet is Audi’s first premium compact class “open top”.
Audi claim the A3 Cabriolet will comfortably seat 4 adults, so that’s going to put it ahead of much of the opposition, which frankly are two plus two’s.
The A3 Cabriolet has a hood, yes, a good old fashioned hood and in our opinion, that’s what a convertible should have. You can tell it’s a convertible even when the top is up, unlike all these Coupe Cab things that sacrifice style just to get a tin top that works.
The A3 Cab is going to be available with a choice of four engines, 2 are petrol and 2 are diesel and depending on the motor you choose you are going to have anything between 105ps to 200ps below your right foot. For auto lovers, certain models will be available with Audi’s fabulous “S” Tronic transmission.
The first press photographs have created a real mixed feeling around our office, ranging from drop dead gorgeous to out of proportion and ugly, so I guess it depends on what angle you look at the car from or perhaps beauty is just in the eye of the beholder.
We all love Audi build quality and it’s pretty certain the A3 will be well put together straight out of the box and it will be a good car and more than that, its going to be a desirable car, an aspirational car.
The Audi press release runs to 9 pages, so we can’t cover it all here, but if you need any further information please feel free to contact us and we will tell you what we know.
Meanwhile, prices are due to be announced shortly and when that happens, we can start taking orders. Interested? Well contact us and we will let you know when we have prices.
