Its always good news for the customer when a vehicle manufacturer increases its warranty periods. It shows they have confidence in their product and gives everyone that runs one a greater piece of mind.
Fact is, based upon our experience; Renault needed to do it more than most.
Applying to vehicles registered from 1st January 2008 onwards, but only applying to selected models and below, is the statement from Renault:-
100,000 MILE / 3 YEAR WARRANTY
As part of Renault Commitment 2009, New Laguna was launched with a 3-year/100k mile warranty package. Here is a reminder of the conditions:
- The first two years of warranty have unlimited mileage.
- In addition, the warranty is valid for a third year or until the vehicle has been driven for 100,000 miles, whichever is the sooner.
We are pleased to announce that this new warranty package is now also applicable to all new Espace / Grand Espace, Trafic and Master (vans and Commercial Passenger Vehicles) registered from 1st January 2008
We have had very disappointing experiences with some Renault product, particularly the bigger vans, so we are pleased that Renault have at last decided to offer their customers a greater level of support, however, its taken a very long time to happen (we were suggesting this to Renault over 4 years ago).
If you have total confidence in the product you make, well it’s easy to affirm that by standing behind it for a greater mileage, but we can’t help but feel that this move is to try and catch up with the competition and to ward off falling sales.
We really admire Renault in so many ways, for their flare, style and bravery when it comes to design, but we have found it difficult in the recent past to recommend Renault product to any high mileage user, so lets hope this move by Renault rebuilds everyone’s confidence and levels the playing field by reducing maintenance and repair costs for those users that do over the previous 60,000 mile warranty limit
