Top London football team, Arsenal have signed a 3 year sponsorship deal with Citroen allowing them to become the clubs official car supplier.
Citroen’s UK’s Managing Director, Xavier Duchemin says that Citroen share much in common with Aresenal, as both have a reputation for creativity, style and flair. He sited teaming up with Arsenal as an indication of the strength of the Citroen brand.
As part of the deal, Citroen branding will be added to the Emirates Stadium and they will also use the Arsenal connection in promotional activities and advertising.
Clearly there’s a French connection going on here somewhere, with Manager Arsene Wenger and past and present players such as Cygan, Viera, Henry, Petit, Sagna, Diarra, Gallas, Flamini, Clichy and Traore, being just some of the French imports.
You have to ask yourself when you here something like this, just what these manufacturers expect to get from these relationships and whilst I can understand every Arsenal fan looking kindly on Citroen for supporting their team, I kind of wonder what you might feel towards them, if for arguments sake you were a partisan Spurs fan?
